Relay for Life 2007 - OUTLOOK
On 21-22nd October, The Cancer Council Victoria held its annual Relay for Life in Princess Park, Shepparton, with fundraising from all teams going towards cancer research, education and support services. The event involves getting a team together to take turns keeping a relay going for 18 hours overnight. This was the perfect opportunity for OUTLOOK and Shepparton Rural Clinical School's Moovin’ Health members to get involved in a great community event. So we found 10 willing and able bodied students and staff, and formed our team!
Our main fundraising effort took place at the Moovin’ Health annual dinner – our ‘Slave Auction’. Staff and students alike were so generous in donating their time as slaves. We had staff members donate personal tutorials, dinners, knitting lessons and a pavlova! Students donated their skills as chefs, cleaners and entertainers… We were amazed and overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown by all as we raised over $500 exceeding all our expectations. The whole experience was a great way to get to know students and staff outside of their ‘medical professional’ persona.
