Health Careers in the Bush :

Northern Territory 2011 Rural High School Visits Program

An exciting opportunity exists for a small number of enthusiastic and committed undergraduate medical, nursing and allied health students from around the country to deliver health careers workshops to high school students throughout Central Australia and the Top End in 2011. The program runs over two separate weeks.

The Top End trip is Saturday 7th – 14th May

The Central Australia trip is 14th – 21st May

The eighth Northern Territory RHSV is proudly presented by:

  • General Practice Network NT (GPNNT)
  • Student Association for Rural & Remote Health
    (STARRH Club)
  • National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN)

What they’ve said…

"After discussion of barriers to moving away from home, and of studying at university, it was encouraging to see a greater number of students raise their hands at the end than had done at the beginning, when asked if they would think about studying a health related degree."
Kristy McGregor (Charles Sturt University)

“This is certainly a trip that I won’t forget and that may have had a serious impact on my future professional life. I highly recommend it for all medical and allied health students regardless of their current feelings for rural and remote practice.”

Dougal Robertson (University of Notre Dame)

“The friendships, career information and professional networks that are established from these visits are priceless to all students on the trip.”

A. Crane (University of Notre Dame)
