Conferences of National SignificanceDo you want to attend a conference with a Rural, Remote and Indigenous Health focus?
The NRHSN receives funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) to fund medical, allied health, nursing, pharmacy and dentistry students who are members of their university Rural Health Club to attend Conferences of National Significance (CoNS). CoNS is a great way for you to be able attend a conference where you will be able to network and gain the great experience and knowledge that you may not have been able to afford as a student! These conferences need to have an emphasis on a health within rural, remote and/or Indigenous communities and can be discipline-specific or have a general allied health focus. Students attending conferences are encouraged to present papers on the NRHSN and its activities, of their rural health club or other relevant topics - this will be looked on favourably by the CoNS committee. Students who do present at conferences on behalf of the NRHSN need to present a copy of the abstract and full paper to the NRHSN Executive prior to the conference for feedback. The costs that the NRHSN can cover include registration fee, travel costs and accommodation costs up to $70 per night. Applicants are also encouraged to seek funding from other sources or request discounts from conference organisers. How to ApplyTo apply for CoNS funding please read through the CoNS Guidelines 2010 carefully and then complete the online CoNS Application Form. Members must submit a written report to the NRHSN within one month after the conference. Make sure you read the CoNS Reports of students who have recently attended a conference. They might inspire you to apply! CoNS Calendar 2010
