OUTLOOK

Outlook is a multidisciplinary student organisation at the University of Melbourne. The aim of the club is to raise awareness of health issues with the focus on rural, indigenous, international, social and gender inequality concerns. We hope to encourage, foster and support student interest in these disadvantaged communities, and promote awareness of the health issues relevant to them.

Outlook is an active, busy organisation made up of students from all health-science courses at the University of Melbourne. It aims to increase student awareness of issues related to health inequalities around Australia and internationally. Past activities have included clinical skills weekends, and visits to rural hospitals and Koori cultural sites.

We regularly invite speakers to present their experiences of working in disadvantaged communities. Their personal accounts range from working with Aboriginal communities in Central Australia to Médecins Sans Frontières in war torn countries. In the past, members of Outlook have also gained experience working with district nurses, immunisation teams, palliative care workers, ambulance officers and public health nurses in surgery, paediatrics and emergency medicine departments.
