RAHMS

The Rural Allied Health and Medical Society (RAHMS) is the rural health club for the University of New South Wales in Sydney. RAHMS has a membership of nearly 1000 medicine, optometry, social work, psychology, health and exercise science, medical sciences, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, and vision science students. The club organises a variety of events from barbeques and golf days to speaker nights, clinical skills sessions and volunteer opportunities. RAHMS supports Life for Kids, a breakfast and activity club for Indigenous children in Surry Hills. Members volunteer on Saturday mornings and organise extra activities for the children; RAHMS also donates money raised from charity events to Life for Kids.

A recent addition to the RAHMS events - RAW - was a jam packed weekend away at Dunedoo, a large acreage outside of Dubbo set to the be the epitome of rural experiences. The weekend was enjoyed by RAHMS and SHARP members and was an opportunity to rouse the interest of students toward rural health careers, through highlighting rural lifestyle and giving students the opportunity to mingle with locals. See Teena Downtown's (SHARP) report to find out more about this fantastic event.
