CARHSS

Welcome to CARHSS
Central Australian Remote Health Student Society (CARHSS) is a multidisciplinary free student group based in the Centre for Remote Health, including students from Charles Darwin University and the Flinders NT Medical Program Campus in Mparntwe, Alice Springs. CARHSS members include university students from Nursing, Aboriginal Health, Pharmacy, Medicine, Psychology, Sports and Exercise Science, Social Work and Public Health and Community, and other health disciplines.
CARHSS provides a voice for students who are passionate about rural and remote health. We facilitate multi-disciplinary networking between local clinicians and students, professional development opportunities and training, and experience in working in rural and remote areas. We aim to interact and engage with people and high school students living in rural and remote communities, by sharing our knowledge about healthy lifestyle choices and educational pathways towards various health professions in a fun and interactive way.
Membership in CARHSS allows you to:
- Join and facilitate Rural High School Visits to educate school students about healthcare career pathways
- Attend our social events such as rodeos, local community events, BBQs, and mixer nights at Epilogue
- Listen and get to know local professional and experienced speakers who work in rural and remote healthcare
- Go on trips out bush to run activities at Indigenous Festivals, and Cultural Immersion experiences
- Attend our popular Clinical Skills Nights – Learn suturing, plaster casting, emergency medicine, cannula insertion, obstetrics basics, and much more!
