NRHSN at CRITCARE25
Zachary Mortimer – NRHSN Nursing, Midwifery & Paramedicine Officer
On 16–17 May, our Nursing, Midwifery & Paramedicine Rep Zach represented NRHSN at the Australasian College of Paramedicine’s Critical Care Summit #CritCare25
Held in Melbourne, the event brought together passionate student paramedics and healthcare leaders to explore the future of paramedicine through hands-on workshops, keynotes, and meaningful connections.
The College and NRHSN proudly support rural placements and pathways, empowering and growing the next generation of rural paramedics.
Zach, featured far right, had the chance to connect with passionate delegates and professionals – including those who’ve taken their careers rural and never looked back.

Zach participated in hands-on workshops covering advanced airways, ultrasound, and prehospital surgical skills.
“This was one of the most interactive and engaging events I’ve attended,” he shared.

The second day featured insightful presentations and panels on:
✔️ Circulation and perfusion
✔️ Paediatric airway
✔️ Oxygenation – with or without lungs
Zach shared “the depth of knowledge was truly inspiring”

The highlight for Zach was “meeting members of the College’s student committee and learning about the incredible work they’re doing to support paramedic students across Australia & New Zealand.
I’m really excited to work alongside these inspiring students as we dive deeper into 2025!”
