Welcome to MIRAGE

MIRAGE is the University of Sydney’s Rural Health Club, and proud to be one of 29 Rural Health Clubs (RHC) nationwide! Like all RHCs, MIRAGE is dedicated to promoting rural and remote practice to our members through a variety of resources and activities. With over 1000 members, we are proud to be one of the largest clubs in the country, bringing together students from a range of disciplines, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, dentistry, nutrition and dietetics, radiography, psychology, social work, and more!

Our members

Our club members are spread across three main Sydney campuses, as well as the rural towns of Lismore, Orange, Dubbo, and Broken Hill. We offer a variety of activities throughout the year, including our annual Welcome Drinks, Rural Health Night, and Indigenous Health Forum. We also host discipline-specific BBQs and community activities, such as Rural High School Visits and Indigenous Community Engagement activities.

What do we do?

MIRAGE offers support, advocacy, placement opportunities, and information exchange for students interested in pursuing rural and remote health careers. We have a strong multidisciplinary focus, drawing from a wide range of disciplines to provide a comprehensive understanding of rural and remote health care.

We run a number of activities each year in order to promote rural and remote health careers to our members. Our activities provide fun and educational experiences for students and include; our annual Welcome Drinks, Rural Health Night and Indigenous Health Forum as well as discipline-specific BBQ’s and community activities like Rural High School Visits and Indigenous Community Engagement activities plus much more…

By becoming a member of your Rural Health Club, you are also a member of the National Rural Health Student Network (NRHSN). The NRHSN represents the future of rural health in Australia. It has more than 9,000 members who belong to 29 university Rural Health Clubs from all states and territories. It is Australia’s only multi-disciplinary student health network, bringing together people studying medicine, nursing and allied health, encouraging them to pursue rural health careersIt is important to keep your details up-to-date to ensure your RHC and the NRHSN can keep you informed of everything exciting that’s happening in rural health.
