Position Description – BREAATHHE General Elections 2020-2021

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL POSITIONS

Executive Councillor – Medicine

  1. The Executive Councillor – Medicine shall ideally have served on the general council. 
  2. They shall work interprofessionally with the other executive councillors to facilitate constructive discussion and action;
  3. Demonstrate leadership; 
  4. Attend all executive and general meetings of the club in person or via phone/ video conference, or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  5. Table items to the agenda that relate to the field of medicine and/or the medical degree; 
  6. Be responsible for and personally involved in the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event during the year; 
  7. Participate in at least one (1) RHSV each year;
  8. Work with the General Councillor – Medicine to promote the club to the medical students of the University of Newcastle;
  9. Represent the collective interests of all years of the medical degree within the framework of interprofessional practice and the mission statement of the club;
  10. Appoint and meet with representatives of the medical degree as they deem necessary;
  11. Represent the views of BREAATHHE members to the NRHSN Medicine Portfolio;
  12. They will be responsible for the organisation and execution of introductory talks to the students in the faculty(ies) that they represent;
  13. Perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor – Nursing and Midwifery or Allied Health

  1. The Executive Councillor – Nursing and Midwifery or Allied Health shall ideally have served on the general council;
  2. They shall work interprofessionally with the other executive councillors to facilitate constructive discussion and action;
  3. Demonstrate leadership; 
  4. Attend all executive and general meetings of the club in person or via phone/ video conference, or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  5. Table items to the agenda that relate to the field of nursing and midwifery and/or those degrees; 
  6. Be responsible for and personally involved in the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event during the year; 
  7. Attend at least one (1) RHSV each year;
  8. Work with the General Councillor – Nursing and Midwifery or Allied Health to promote the club to the Nursing & Midwifery or Allied Health students of the University of Newcastle;
  9. Represent the collective interests of the nursing and midwifery or Allied Health degrees within the framework of interprofessional practice and the mission statement of the club;
  10. Appoint and meet with representatives of the nursing degree and the midwifery degree or Allied Health as they deem necessary;
  11. Represent the views of BREAATHHE members to the NRHSN Nursing Portfolio;
  12. They will be responsible for the organisation and execution of introductory talks to the students in the faculty(ies) that they represent;
  13. Perform other such duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor – Allied Health

  1. The Executive Councillor – Allied Health shall ideally have served on the general council;
  2. They shall work interprofessionally with the other executive councillors to facilitate constructive discussion and action;
  3. Demonstrate leadership; 
  4. Attend all executive and general meetings of the club in person or via phone/ video conference, or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  5. Table items to the agenda that relate to the field of allied health and/or the allied health degrees; 
  6. Be responsible for and personally involved in the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event during the year; 
  7. Attend at least one (1) RHSV each year;
  8. Work with the General Councillor – Allied Health to promote the club to the Allied Health students of the University of Newcastle;
  9. Represent the collective interests of all allied health students within the framework of interprofessional practice and the mission statement of the club;
  10. Form a committee of Allied Health students that represents each of the Disciplines/Schools within the Faculty of Health. This committee will be formed by at the latest February of each year;
  11. Chair the committee of Allied Health students and report back to the Executive;
  12. Will conduct at least 1 meeting for each semester for the Allied Health Committee;
  13. Represent the views of BREAATHHE members to the NRHSN Allied Health Portfolio;
  14. They will be responsible for the organisation and execution of introductory talks to the students in the faculty(ies) that they represent;
  15. Perform such duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor – Indigenous Health (Or Executive Councillor – Serving Indigenous Health)

  1. The Executive Councillor – Indigenous Health shall identify as a student of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. In the event that there are no Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students eligible for the role the position will be assigned to a non-Indigenous student and this student will be appointed Executive Councillor – Serving Indigenous Health;
  2. They shall work interprofessionally with the other executive councillors to facilitate constructive discussion and action;
  3. Demonstrate leadership
  4. Attend all executive and general meetings of the club in person or via phone/ video conference, or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  5. Be familiar with indigenous health issues;
  6. Table items to the agenda that relate to the field of indigenous health; 
  7. Ensure an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) perspective and culturally-sensitive practices are considered in the development of Club activities;
  8. Represent the collective interests of ATSI students who are BREAATHHE members, encourage membership and involvement in BREAATHHE activities;
  9. Liaise with the Wollotuka Institute and other relevant stakeholders;
  10. Meet with ATSI students as they deem necessary
  11. Liaise with the Indigenous Health Portfolio of the NRHSN
  12. Perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor – Clubs and Societies

  1. They will coordinate with affiliated clubs or services and other clubs and societies at the University of Newcastle;
  2. Will coordinate with other rural health clubs within the NRHSN to promote inter-club activities;
  3. Will be responsible for submitting all affiliation and reimbursement documentation, as well as reporting to other clubs and societies at the appropriate times;
  4. Will be responsible for organising and coordinating the “O Week” stall pre-semester 1;
  5. Will attend Clubs and Societies functions, information sessions and training sessions held on campus;
  6. Perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive Council.

Executive Councillor – Promotions and Sponsorship

  1. Is responsible for the maintenance of the BREAATHHE Social Media accounts (including but not limited to the BREAATHHE Facebook Page)
  2. Is responsible for the planning of promotions and engagement activities, including but not limited to:
    1. BREAATHHE Social Media Campaigns
  3. Promotion of the club and it’s activities
    1. This includes, but is not limited to the production of promotional material for social media campaigns
  4. Is responsible for acquiring and maintaining sponsorship for the Club;
    1. This includes, but is not limited to contacting and coordinating sponsors for all of the events and programmes undertaken by the Club where possible;
  5. Ensure that sponsors receive access, information and facilities agreed upon prior to events, and make sponsors feel welcome;
  6. Continue to foster relations with current sponsors throughout the year as well as sourcing new ones;
  7. Is responsible for the construction of and maintenance of a prospectus to give to businesses or organisations that the Club is seeking sponsorship from. This prospectus will be updated each year to ensure that the Club is perceived as an ever-evolving and growing entity;
  8. Will ensure that all records of sponsorship are detailed in a file, that is available for inspection by the President, Vice-President and Administrator at any time;
  9. Will perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive council, so long as this does not encroach on duties detailed in Roles and Responsibilities as outlined from 1-5.

GENERAL COUNCIL POSITIONS

General Councillor – Medicine

  1. The General Councillor – Medicine shall assist the Executive Councillor – Medicine as required;
  2. They shall stand in as proxy for the Executive Councillor – Medicine at executive meetings when necessary;
  3. Attend all general council meetings in person, or via phone/video conferencing or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  4. At a minimum, assist with the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event;
  5. The General Councillor – Medicine may take personal responsibility for the running of a club event with the endorsement of the executive council;
  6. Promote club membership and club events to the medical student cohort;
  7. Will perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive council.

General Councillor – Nursing & Midwifery or Allied Health

  1. The General Councillor – Nursing & Midwifery or Allied Health shall assist the Executive Councillor – Nursing & Midwifery as required;
  2. They shall stand in as proxy for the Executive Councillor – Nursing & Midwifery or Allied Health at executive meetings when necessary;
  3. Attend all general council meetings in person, or via phone/video conferencing or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  4. At a minimum, assist with the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event;
  5. The General Councillor – Nursing & Midwifery or Allied Health may take personal responsibility for the running of a club event with the endorsement of the executive council;
  6. Promote club membership and club events to the nursing and midwifery student cohorts;
  7. Will perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive council.

General Councillor – Allied Health

  1. The General Councillor – Allied Health shall assist the Executive Councillors – Allied Health as required;
  2. They shall stand in as proxy for an Executive Councillor – Allied Health at executive meetings when necessary;
  3. Attend all general council meetings in person, or via phone/video conferencing or offer apologies and review the minutes of the meeting within 7 days;
  4. At a minimum, assist with the organisation and running of at least one (1) club event;
  5. The General Councillor – Allied Health may take personal responsibility for the running of a club event with the endorsement of the executive council;
  6. Assist the Executive Councillor – Allied Health in the organization, management and functioning of the Allied Health Committee;
  7. Promote club membership and club events to the allied health student cohort;
  8. Will perform such other duties as may be delegated to them by the Executive council.

General Councillor – Indigenous Health (Or General Councillor – Serving Indigenous Health)

  1. The General Councillor – Indigenous Health shall identify as a student of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
