2024 NRHSN Council 1

NRHSN EVENTS

2024 Council 1 – Sydney

Last month, the NRHSN held our first council meeting for 2024 in Sydney, with participants from Rural Health Clubs Australia-wide attending the two-day event. The event featured some amazing guest speakers, social events, and internally run workshops.

Council 1 was organised and lead by the NRHSN executive team, and this year had a strong focus on First Nation’s health. The theme for the Council was ‘Becoming The Voice’ and featured a brilliant First Nations Workshop with Nicole Turner, the chairperson of Indigenous Allied Health Australia, Adjunct Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at University of Canberra, and the Director of Aboriginal Health and Aboriginal Workforce Engagement Manager at RDN.

Participants also had the privilege of hearing from John Bruning, the CEO of the Australasian College of Paramedicine, and Lucy Brogden, the Director of Australian Unity and previous National Mental Health Commissioner (amongst a host of other positions in accounting, finance, organisational psychology and mental health).

The final day of the event focused on providing Rural Health Clubs with practical strategies for running events and growing their membership bases. The Internals team ran workshops and facilitated some state-based collaborative exercises to promote the sharing of ideas.

The event was a massive success and had excellent feedback, with many coming away inspired, and with some great event ideas.

Planning is already underway for Council 2, so keep an eye out for details!
